LESSON 01 OF 30 · INTERVIEW ENGLISH · 4 MIN READ
Introduce yourself with confidence
Build a clear, natural answer to “Tell me about yourself.”
An introduction helps an interviewer understand what you can bring to a role. Aim for a short answer that connects your background to the opportunity.
Use three simple steps
- Present: Say what you are studying or doing now.
- Evidence: Describe a relevant project, task, or responsibility.
- Direction: Explain what interests you about this role.
See it in action
“I’m a final-year commerce student interested in customer service. During a college event, I helped answer visitors’ questions and organise registrations. I’d like to use those communication skills in a customer support role.”
This is an illustrative answer. Replace the details with your own experience; a college project, volunteering, or a family responsibility can provide a useful example.
A small language improvement
Use “My name is Asha” or “I’m Asha” for an introduction. “Myself Asha” is not the standard form for introducing yourself in professional English.
Your turn
Write one sentence for each step. Read your answer aloud, then remove anything that does not help explain your fit for the role. Practise until it sounds like you, rather than a memorised script.
Check your understanding
Which opening is standard professional English: “Myself Ravi” or “My name is Ravi”?
Show the answer
“My name is Ravi” is correct. “Myself” can refer back to “I” or add emphasis, as in “I prepared the presentation myself”; it does not replace “my name is.”
