LESSON 02 OF 30 · INTERVIEW ENGLISH · 3 MIN READ
Explain your strengths with evidence
Turn a general claim into a clear interview answer with a real example.
“I’m hardworking” tells an interviewer what you believe about yourself. An example helps them understand what that strength looks like in action.
Choose one relevant strength
Start with a skill that matters for the role. For customer support, that might be listening carefully. For an administrative role, it could be organising information. Choose something you can honestly support.
Use this pattern: strength → example → relevance.
“I’m organised. For a college event, I kept a shared list of registrations and checked it each evening. That experience would help me keep customer records accurate.”
Use specific verbs
Verbs such as checked, organised, explained, and completed describe actions. They provide more information than repeating “good” or “excellent.” You do not need an impressive number if you do not have one.
Avoid an unsupported promise
“I never make mistakes” is difficult to support. “I check my work before submitting it” describes a useful habit that you can explain.
Your turn
Choose one strength and complete these sentences: “One of my strengths is ___. For example, I ___. This would help me ___.”
See a possible answer
“One of my strengths is explaining things clearly. For example, I helped classmates understand a presentation task. This would help me answer customer questions.” Use your own experience rather than claiming this example as yours.
